A major crisis of forest industry that has been building over several decades we faced the in 21st century. On the one hand, wood is recognized as a renewable raw material converted into – homes, newsprint, hygienic papers, packaging which are essential to human wellbeing. On the other hand, we are confronted by images of unchecked deforestation and forest fires on an enormous scale which destroys communities and exacerbates climate change. Almost 50% world’s original forest cover has now been destroyed and much of that happened during the last 50 years.
We are sure that the most promising response to the current situation is independent certification. Independent certification can allow industry to show that the wood it harvests and processes comes from well-managed forests.
